Design Assistance
General
We assist contractors and consultants to design heat pump systems. We will help you design the hydraulics of a system, consider legislation and consider all types of heat pump whether that be water to water, air to water, ground source, natural refrigerant, low GWP refrigerant systems.
New Buildings
All new buildings have to comply with the building regulations to achieve planning sign off. Every new building is required to achieve a reduction in carbon emissions and energy, benchmarked against a building of similar characteristics designed under the previous regulations. The most recent adaptation of the building regulations (released in June 2022), requires a
30% reduction in C02 emissions over the previous standards.
The base Co2 factor for electricity has been updated, making the use of heat pumps for heating and DHW production even lower in C02 emissions than before.
The new standards also require heat pump systems to be designed to the most efficient temperatures, to use weather compensation and achieve set minimum efficiencies.
We can help you design systems which adhere to the requirements and achieve optimum energy and C02 emission reductions.
We are also able to guide you to select equipment which maximises BREEAM credits, if a BREEAM assessment is part of your project.
Existing Buildings The decarbonisation of our existing building stock is a more difficult challenge than heating new buildings. Poor insulation values and heating infrastructure designed to work on the sort of temperatures achieved with fossil fuel appliances, mean that often a different approach is required than when implementing heat pumps in a new buildings.
As well as considering C02 emissions, it is also imperative that running costs are considered when choosing a retrofit heat pump solution, as dependent on heat pump selection, both are not necessarily achieved.
We provide realistic projections of both C02 reduction and running costs, to help you consider what is the most suitable solution. Our large range of solutions, allow us to help you choose an option which suits the exact
application you are working on.
Commercial buildings in the UK have vastly different heating and hot water requirements; New-build and existing buildings
big and small all require different heat pumps solutions. We provide heat pumps from multiple manufactures to allow
us to help you select the most suitable solution for your heating or hot water requirements.
